This book uses police photographs taken in 2012 after an attack in which a man was arrested for assault occasioning Actual Bodily Harm (ABH). He was released without charge. There were only two people in the room and the police said the attacker—identified only as an older, white male— made a statement claiming the injuries were self-inflicted. The man later claimed that the police ‘obviously’ did not believe the woman’s story, and constructed a narrative in which he became the victim.
