Sue Jones: Whitstable Biennale

Brand design testimonial

‘We really value the relationship we have with Victoria. Her work has been instrumental in helping us develop from a small biennial, to a fully formed arts organisation with an international reputation.’

‘We have worked closely with Victoria for many years on all aspects of our brand and design. Victoria created our brand in its entirety including logo, smartphone app, website and a wide range of print materials for the festival.

‘Whitstable Biennale started life as a small regional festival. Victoria’s brief was to relaunch it, with the aim of creating an international profile and reputation. Branding was crucial. From the outset, Victoria’s ideas worked incredibly well. Her designs are striking and bold, and are enjoyed by visual art specialists and much wider audiences. Because of the exceptionally high standard of her designs, our branding still looks contemporary and fresh more than a decade later.

‘VIKA also designed our website and developed an app for us — making us the first contemporary arts festival in the UK to have one. This innovative app and its affiliated platform, both developed by VIKA, have since been used to create similar apps for many UK arts festivals.

‘We really value the relationship we have with Victoria. Her work has been instrumental in helping us develop from a small biennial event, to a fully formed arts organisation. We are now part of the Arts Council of England’s National Portfolio and our reputation is international.’
